George V on the Royal Barge at Henley, 1912
'George V on the Royal Barge at Henley, 1912' by John Fraser. It is signed in the lower right.
The barge is Queen Mary's shallop of 1689, which George V was the last monarch to use at the post-war Peace Pageant on the Thames on 4 August 1919. It was subsequently stored at Windsor and though he gave it to the National Maritime Museum before his death in 1935, only collected for restoration and display at Greenwich in 1953. The appearance Fraser shows here is its use at the Henley Royal Regatta, 1912.
