Dutch and English ships arriving at Naples

The main ship, seen in stern view, bears the coat of arms of Amsterdam and it fires a salute as it approaches what appears by comparison with BHC1897 to be intended as the harbour of Naples. There are two English ships approaching in the distance on the starboard tack and the galley in stern view to the right is flying the St George cross, which in this context suggests she is probably Genoese. The boat in the foreground conveys dignitaries with two trumpeters. The painting is signed on a spar in the lower left corner.
