Portrait of the 'Prins te Paard Amsterdam'

Portrait of the ‘Prins te Paard’, carefully worked up with pencil and wash.
She is viewed from the starboard quarter. On the tafferel is a man on a prancing horse; a tree is on the right and a crowned shield on the top left. On the rail above are the arms of Amsterdam (three saltires on a pale) between two dolphins. Two shields are on the counter, on the port side a lion rampant and on the starboard side crossed anchors for the Admiralty of Amsterdam.

In the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, there is an offset (242) related to this drawing inscribed ‘de prins te paert’, and another offset (467) inscribed ‘Jonge prins te paert’. There is also a drawing of the same ship by the Younger in the NMM: PAH5016.
