Portrait of the 'Jaarsveld'
Possibly a portrait of the ‘Jaarsveld, built in 1653, 48 guns. She was last mentioned in 1676. She is viewed from close on the starboard bow.
This is an offset rubbed on the back, probably from an accurate drawing in isometric perspective by the Elder. Pencil-work added to the ports and quarter is fairly clearly by the Younger, otherwise the whole drawing would pass as the work of the Elder.
It has been tentatively identified from a drawing of the ‘Jaarsveld’ in the Boymans-Van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam.
