The Dutch fleet becalmed

The Dutch fleet becalmed, August 1665; part of a series of drawings of De Ruyter’s voyage to Bergen, Autumn 1665.

A starboard bow view of a two-decker with flag at the mizzen lying becalmed with her topsails loosed; there is a boat ahead towing her. On the right is the bow view of another ship. Several others are in the background.

Van de Velde left Holland in his galjoot with the fleet under Tromp in August, and when de Ruyter took over command, went with him to Bergen.
