Portrait of the Dutch Indiaman 'Zon'
Portrait of the Dutch Indiaman ‘Zon’, viewed from the port quarter. On the taffrel is a sun shining above clouds on a landscape below. Arms with dolphins on either side are on the rail above.
This is an offset rubbed on the back, probably from a drawing by the Elder. It is worked up with pencil that is thicker than usual for the Younger, but with some of the decoration very neatly drawn in the manner of other drawings of this period by the Younger.
In the Boymans-van Beuningen Museum, Rotterdam, there is an offset starboard quarter view from this drawing with quarter-galleries added.
