Jan Evertsen 1600-1666

Technique includes etching. Text in Dutch below image. This appears to be the image published in Amsterdam, by Clemendt de Jonghe, (ca. 1675). Engraved half-length portrait with baton and naval battles on both sides (and 8 line poem in two columns by I. Koerding) after Hendrick Berckman by Abraham Blotelingh. Jan Evertsen (1600 - 66) was the most important admiral from the heroic Evertsen dynasty from Zealand [ref: Muller, Portretten, 1593e]. [Note that NMM copy incriptions need checking: notes from a Dutch commercial catalogue relating to another copy, sight unseen, PvdM 10/15]
