Line engraving: the Italian title translates as 'The most serene prince [i.e. the Doge of Venice] is carried on Ascension Day to marry the Adriatic Sea in this gilded vessel called the Bucentaur'. Its dimensions are given at the bottom in Venetian feet as 100 piedi long by 21 in the beam. The scroll carried by the flying figure of Fame reads 'Aloysius Mocenigo, Prince of the Venetians in the year of grace 1728'.
