Coloured aquatint inscribed "His Majesty's Sloop of War Wolverene of 12 guns and 63 Men. Attacking and defeating two French luggers, one of 14 and the other of 16 guns and 140 men each, off the coast of Bolougne (sic) on the 3rd January 1799. Her commander Lewis Mortlock after killing several of the enemy with his own hands, received a mortal wound from the last shot fired, in consequence of which he died the week after". The Furet (French Privateer, 14 guns) is shown right foreground.
