Prise du Brig L' Alacrity de 20 caronades de 32, par le Brig l' Abeille de 20 caronades de 24 commande par Mr de Mackau, 26 Mai 1811

This print depicts the French naval brig, 'Abeille', firing into the stern of 'Alacrity', the British brig of 18 guns. The French promoted the captain of 'Abeille', Ange René Armand-Mackau, to the rank of lieutenant de vaisseau after the action. He was also inducted into the Legion of Honour. 'Alacrity' served in the Baltic and was at the capture of Copenhagen in 1807. Under the command of Commodore Nesbit Palmer, she captured two French privateers and a Greek vessel before falling victim to 'Abeille'.
