A view of the damaged ‘Pomone’, shown port broadside, with the ‘Alceste’ on the left, shown port quarter. The ‘Active’ lies behind ‘Pomone’, covered by smoke. The latter is shown with her masts broken and fallen into the water. The ‘Alceste’ was originally captured from the French as ‘Minerve’ off Rochefort. Coloured lithograph. Plate 6.
The ‘Pomone’ is described in ‘The Naval History of Great Britain’ (Vol V, p.666) as ‘rather hastily run up’ so that when ‘brought to England in September, 1812, was found defective and taken to pieces.’
