HMS Clyde escaping from mutinous fleet at the Nore 1797
Drawing with hand-written inscription and sketch of four figures on verso. HMS Clyde is shown in the right foreground escaping from a mutinous fleet in 1797. William Joy and his brother John Cantiloe Joy (1806-1866) were educated at Yarmouth and worked there together as marine artists until 1832 (see B. M. Catalogue). The Clyde was sold in 1814.
