Hand-coloured stone lithograph inscribed "This view of the New Pier, projecting 1500 feet into the Medway, and part of His Majesty's Dockyard at Sheerness is by permission respectfully dedicated to the commander in chief Vice Admiral the Honble Charles E Fleeming by his most obedient, very humble servant, John Bilbe". The Duke of Sussex paddle steamer depicted in the centre of the picture ran until about 1850, usually between London and Boulogne.
