Hodgson's Patent Iron Tubular Vessel 'Labuan', built for the Eastern Archipelago
This is a reproduction of a coloured lithograph depicting the three-masted iron tubular vessel ‘Labuan’, which was built for the London and Eastern Archipelago Company in 1855. She is shown to great advantage, making good progress through a choppy sea under steam and sail. The foreground is dominated by a swathe of turquoise water which contrasts with the deep blue sea behind the ship, helping to draw the eye to Labuan’s sleek, dark hull.
