Sir Winston Churchill (1874-1965), Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports

A three-quarter-length portrait, slightly to the left, showing Churchill seated wearing the uniform of Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports with the ribbon and star of the Garter. The painting is signed, dated and described on the back of the canvas. The portrait is based on the Trinity House portrait by Sir Osward Birley; the head copied from the original sketch with the assistance of photographs and the uniform altered from that of an Elder Brother.
