Inscribed: "H.M.S. Dauntless, 33. guns. Captain E. P. Halstead". On this details of the 'Dauntless' are given as follows: "Length perpendiculars 218 ft. 1 in. Breadth extreme 39 ft. 9 ins. Tons 1569. Horse-power 580-Screw. Designed and built by John Fincham Esq".
On the right of the central inscription the Armament is given as follows: "Upper Deck 32pr. 8 feet, 42 cwt 10; 68pr. 10 feet.95cwt1. Main Deck 32pr. 9.6 feet, 56 cwt 4; 8 inch 8.0 feet, 52 cwt 18. Total 33 [guns]".
