Inscribed: "Seiner Majestat's Dampf Corvette Danzig, 12 Bomben Kannonen 400 Pferdekraft" (His Majesty's steam corvette Danzig, 12 guns, 400 horsepower). Also inscribed below the lower margin are the names of warships, mostly vessels of the Prussian fleet from before the unification of Germany in 1871. ("Conways All the World's Fighting Ships 1860-1905", p. 241), from left to right these read as follows: "Nix. Salamander. Mercur. Amazone. Gefion. Barbarossa."
