Flutes getting under way in a light breeze
In the centre in starboard-bow view, a flute is under main topsail. There is a boat alongside and another in the tackles. Another flute is shown beyond. In the middle distance, a flute in broadside view has a flag at the main in the wind, and on the right is another flute at anchor.
This drawing is one of five that are more compositional in character than others, and carried out in grey wash over very slight pencil and strengthened with pen and ink. It is approximately dated by the subject, but is possibly of some years later.
