Portrait of the 'Catharina'

The drawing was probably used in connection with a grisaille or with a painting of the action at Bergen, 2[OS]/ 12 August 1665.

A rough drawing of the ‘Catharina’, ?East Indiaman at Bergen 1665, viewed from the starboard quarter. On the tafferel is a full-length female figure, with part of a wheel shown at her feet to the right of the tafferel. On the rail above is a dolphin on either side of undetermined arms.

A very faint offset rubbed on the back from an original in the Boymans Museum, Rotterdam (296-1270). It is approximately dated by the watermark.
