Portrait of the 'Leiderdorp'
A port-quarter view portrait of the ‘Leiderdorp’, 26 guns, built ?1667, with no mentioned afterwards. It is shown under fore course, mizzen and topsails. It is a point full on the starboard tack but with the yards braced sharp up. The main topgallant sail is half hoisted.
One of two offsets, both rubbed on the back, worked up with a little pencil on the hulls. PAH1793 has been used as the original for the hull of this drawing, which has had masts and sails added to it in rapid pencil, and an offset may then have been taken from it. It is approximately dated by the subject, but the watermark suggests and earlier date.
