Study of a French fishing boat

A French fishing boat in port-bow view with the yard lowered aportlast and nothing shown above the foot of the mast. The boat is about 25-foot L.O.A. Norwegian type, with a small cabin top, one mast amidships and square-rigged. There is possibly a small mast forward. It is probably a type of fishing boat from the coast of Normandy called a ‘clinquar.’ The drawing is inscribed in brown ink ‘franse visser' [French fishing boat].

Very approximately dated by the style and signature.
