Portrait of a Dutch yacht
A States yacht viewed from the port starboard. Only the foot of the mast is shown. On the tafferel is a lion rampant on a shield surrounded by arms and trophies. A round gunport is on the quarter. A small light is on either side of the rudder below the lowest wale.
Possibly based on an offset, but not in reverse. In pencil and grey wash and a light brown wash over the whole drawing except the parts in sunlight. A correction to the ensign staff is in pen and brown ink. Approximately dated by the watermark, but other drawings on the same paper may be as late as 1700.
