Portrait of the 'Westfriesland'?

A portrait of what is thought to be the ‘Westfriesland’, 50 guns, built ?1661, captured 1665, also called ‘Provincie van Westfriesland’. On the tafferel is the lion of the United Provinces on a crowned shield surrounded by the arms of the seven provinces. It is inscribed ‘de provinctie van/ Westvrieslant’.

This is a crude drawing of the stern and quarter, as far forward as the main channels. It is rubbed on the back and has probably had an offset taken from it. It is dated by the watermark. It is presumably copied from an earlier drawing and it may not be the work of either van de Velde. The inscription, however, is in the Elder’s hand.
