The stern of a States yacht
This is one of two (along with PAH1895) rapid drawings which are believed to belong to Van de Velde’s sojourn in Holland in 1685-86. This work, unlike the other drawing, is signed: W.V.V.J. in brown ink in the lower left-hand corner. The signature is very similar to that used in PAH1894.
The drawing shows the starboard quarter only. It is depicted from just before the beam. The yacht is remarkably similar to that in its companion work (PAH1895).
