A dismasted ship scudding in a heavy sea

This is a distant view of a ship in the trough of a wave scudding under a clewed up foresail. The main topsail and mizzen are carried away. There is another ship faintly visible in the right distance.

This work is very broadly drawn, with the sea depicted in wash in the foreground.
