This is one of five drawings depicting small vessels, rapidly sketched. They have been approximately dated to 1700 by the style of the drawings.

In this drawing, a Dutch coaster is depicted from close underneath her port bow. She is laid ashore and there are three figures depicted at work on the land next to her and under her bow. The positions of the ship’s masts are indicated.
