The Groundplat of Kanton. Canton in 1655

A wall encircled the whole city of Canton. A pagoda temple (a five-storied tower), a fort and a gate stood on the north wall, while two water gates stood on the south wall facing the river. Inside the city the plan records various buildings, including the old and new palaces. The ambassador’s house and artillery house were located outside the city wall.
