The Friesland squadron lying-by off the coast of Scotland, 16-26 August 1665
This is an unsigned horizontal format drawing. It shows ships, bearing up and before the wind. In the centre middle-distance is a stern view of the 'Steden', the ship of L-Admiral Tjerk Hiddes de Vries. The 'Stad en Landen', belonging to Vice-Admiral Coenders is in the left background. There is a galjoot in the centre and a snow - a square-rigged, two-masted vessel - is depicted on the left.
