Portrait of a States yacht
A States yacht viewed from the port quarter, showing four square windows to the cabin (of six), three guns to port and two stern ports. It has the lion of the United Provinces on a crowned shield on the tafferel, surrounded by arms and trophies. Immediately below is a cherub’s head. There is floral decoration on the rail above.
This is a very careful, detailed drawing in pencil, probably working up an offset but not in reverse. It has been approximately dated by the watermark.
