HMS ‘Ganges’ at Portsmouth, ca.1830
This picture may show the ‘Ganges’ after 1832, when she was fitted as a demonstration ship in Portsmouth; but, although she could be made ready for sea at short notice, she remained in ordinary for nearly seven years.
The ship is shown in starboard-broadside view, with only lower masts fitted and decks busy with crew members, being attended to by a number of boats alongside her.
Heightened with white.
