The Maner of the Queenes Maties Landing at Portsmouth (Catherine of Braganza)

The fifth of a series of 7 prints [PAH4098-PAH4104] showing the progress of the Infanta Catherine of Braganza from Lisbon to marry Charles II in England. These were created by the Spanish court artist Dirk Stoop to commemorate her journey, and were produced with captions in various languages, including English, Portuguese and German.

This example has English and Portuguese inscriptions and shows the arrival of Catherine at Portsmouth, where she met and married Charles. A version with German inscriptions is also in the collection [ZBA6827].
