The Duke of York's meeting wth ye Royall Navy after it came into the Channell
The fourth of a series of 7 prints [PAH4098-PAH4104] showing the progress of the Infanta Catherine of Braganza from Lisbon to marry Charles II in England. These were created by the Spanish court artist Dirk Stoop to commemorate her journey, and were produced with captions in various languages, including English, Portuguese and German.
This example has English and Portuguese inscriptions and shows the meeting in the Channel of James, Duke of York, Charles's brother, with the naval fleet sent to escort the Infanta, under the leadership of Edward Montagu, Earl of Sandwich.
