A kaag and other Dutch vessels before the wind

On the left is a port-bow view of a kaag with a jib-headed sail boomed out as a spinnaker to port, heading towards the viewer on a following wind. Other vessels are astern, also with sails boomed out. There is a Dutch ketch-rigged yacht at anchor on the left and land and houses in the right background.

This is an unsigned pencil and wash drawing by the Elder. It has been approximately dated by style, subject and paper. It is one of three drawings of yachts and small vessels off the Dutch coast.
