Castle Holme bow view in Surrey Commercial Docks with Endymion alongside
The Danish sailing barque 'Castle Holme' (1875) and the British barque 'Endymion' (1869) at the Surrey Commercial Docks in 1921. Although by this time steamships dominated trade, sailing vessels were still used profitably to carry bulk cargoes like grain and timber, which were the staple goods of the Surrey Commercial Docks. Exhibition: John Everett, NMM, 1964.
