Portrait of a midshipman, ca.1810
A half-length portrait very slightly to the left showing the unidentified sitter as a midshipman, but wearing a double-breasted coat, which is incorrect. His top hat is under his left arm' his right hand thrust into his coat. An inscription on the back of the canvas suggests this is Sir Philip Durham, but it may be a relation with the same initials. It was probably painted at Palermo.
