Portrait of a naval officer, ca.1780, thought to be Captain Philip King (1758-1808)
A half-length portrait to the right showing the unidentified sitter in naval uniform with a red drape to his left. Behind is a low wall, or parapet; sea and sky form the background. Acquired as a portrait of Captain Philip King (1758–1808). The canvas has been stuck onto plywood which is attached to the original stretcher.
