Plan of the Battle of Copenhagen (with inset, View of the Danish Line prior to the Engagement; portrait of Nelson; View of Both the Fleets in Action.)
Admiral Sir Hyde Parker handed over control of a squadron of ships no larger than of 74 guns to Nelson on 29 March 1801. This map shows them in a line on the right, beside Parker’s larger ships, before moving down the east side of the Middle Ground Shoal to anchor at its south (left) end on the night of 1 April. On the morning of the 2nd they moved up the west side to engage the Danish fleet at anchor between them and Copenhagen.
