The Hebrus and L' Etoile off Cape La Hogue, March 27th 1814. L’Etoile striking her Colours to the Hebrus after a close & obstinate engagement of two hours and a quarter. To the Right Honourable the Earl St Vincent G.C.B. this plate is respectfully inscribed.
Print. L'Etoile is shown in the centre of the image, in front of the Hebrus. The French colours are not readily visible, suggesting that L'Etoile is depicted after she struck them. The damage to the sails and rigging of both vessels is readily apparent, as is the damage to the upper part of L'Etoile's hull.
