Coloured lithograph inscribed "Grand Naval Review at Spithead, August 11, 1853. Her Majesty in the Victoria and Albert yacht leading the squadron to sea / No. 1". The Duke of Wellington is shown in the centre of the picture in the middle distance. This print was probably produced to meet the demand for pictures, at a time when public feeling ran high, just before the outbreak of the Crimean War. Two paddle steamers and several smaller boats in the foreground are crowded wih passengers viewing the event.
