The 'Fire King' steam ship getting under way off Liverpool

Inscribed: “The Fire King Steam Ship. Burthen 600 tons – 250 Horse Power – Robert Ewing Commander – getting under weigh off Liverpool. To the Chairman and Directors of the Ardrossan & Liverpool Steam Packet Company. The ‘Fire King’ is seen in starboard broadside view, reading herself to sail out of the Mersey. She flies a Blue Peter (white square inside blue) from her foretop to announce her imminent departure. Men at the bow are engaged with weighing anchor, whilst several boats ferry passengers to her. Birkenhead is in the background to left, with Fort Perch Rock and Lighthouse in the far distance to right.
