Le Napoleon, Vaisseau A Helice, Courant Vent Arriere
A starboard stern quarter view of the French Navy screw steamship, Napoleon, under sail and steam, heeling over to starboard in a following wind and choppy sea. She flies the French flag at her main mast. Ahead of Napoleon, on the same tack and also under full sail, is a French Navy three-masted vessel. A small local sailing boat, under full sail, tacking into the wind, is depicted in the bottom right corner. Another small boat, with its sails furled and three figures appearing inactive, is moored to a flagged buoy in the bottom left corner. To the stern of Napoleon there is a small paddle steamer heading into the wind. The coastline in visible in the distance.
