The East India Ship 'Duke of Buccleuch', (Captn Alexr Henning) in a Hurricane off the Mauritius, attempting to wear
Print entitled 'The East India Ship 'Duke of Buccleuch', (Captn Alexr Henning) in a Hurricane off the Mauritius, attempting to wear'. A recorded sketchbook of Reinagle's, subsequently owned by Clarkson Stanfield RA, shows that he made pencil studies of the 'Duke of Buccleuch' in the Thames in 1833, presumably for this lithograph which first appeared in 1835 - the year of his early death. The ship was built in London in 1831, probably by Green & Co, for their London to India run. Other impression by different publisher: PAH8491
