Portrait of the 'Eendracht'
This work is one of six faint offsets which have been approximately dated by their style or watermark.
This is a ship portrait, viewed from the port quarter. On the ship’s tafferel is a large image of the lion of the United Provinces. The lion is contained within a circular fence. On the rail above it are two dolphins.
There is a comparable drawing in the Boymans Museum, Rotterdam (MB 1866/ T 217) which depicts the ‘Eendracht’ viewed from her port quarter. This drawing is inscribed in the bottom left with the following inscription: ‘den eendracht/van enchuijsen’.
