Dutch ships at anchor off a low shore. Here, seven ships are depicted stern or starboard quarter view lying at anchor. There are three flagships in the centre, the admiral and vice-admiral of the centre squadron and the rear-admiral of the van. There is a tower in the centre in the distance. In the distance on the far right, there is a crowd of ships with swallow-tailed flags which are probably Danish.

The drawing has a number of inscriptions, all of which are illegible. One is crossed out, below the vice-admiral. A ship on the right has on her tafferel what appears to be a small vessel with one square-tail. She is perhaps the ‘Kogge’.

It is one of three drawings of Dutch ships in harbour (along PAF6757 and PAE5212) which relate to the Northern Expedition of 1658.
