The brigantine "Peter & James"
In this painting the merchantman Peter & James, shown in port side view, is in a heavy sea with only a few sails hoisted. An ensign flies at her mizzen mast. Several figures are visible on the deck. She is clearly rounding a very rocky headland with a tower perched on top, shown on the far left of the picture. Two other vessels, one sailing and the other under steam, are depicted in the distance.
