The Old Royal Observatory, Greenwich
Signed and inscribed in pencil by the artist, and with his name in the plate. The artist has also written the number '6/75' in pencil ahead of the title which may be the date (June 1975) but it could be a little earlier, with the annotation indicating no. 6 of an edition of 75. 1975 saw the 300th anniversary of the Observatory and that end date is consistent with the general scene shown on what is apparently a summer day, with the time-ball on Flamsteed House about to drop at 1 p.m. The work is stored in a folder with other works by Gross; PAI2606-PAI2609.
