Official ship's badge of HMS Tetrarch
Ship's badge of HMS 'Tetrarch' 1917. It is an official design, a shield shape with a gold rope twist border, a naval crown above. 'TURQUOISE' is inscribed in the name tablet. The badge depicts a gold horseshoe. on a background divided vertically dark blue and red. The pattern was approved in April 1926. The badge is cast in copper alloy, painted and drilled for attachment. The ship was named after a winning racehorse 'The Tetrarch'. The field colours are the racing colours of the horses owner, Captain Dermot McCalmont of the 7th Hussars. The badge belonged to the 'R' class destroyer, built by Harland and Wolff and launched April 1917. She was sold for scrap in 1934.
