View of the cutting out the Desiree, French Frigate...from Dunkirk Roads on the Night of 7th July 1800, by His Majesty's Sloop Dart, Patrick Campbell, Commander...

An aquatint etching portraying the capturing of the ‘Désirée’ (far left, starboard quarter view) by the ‘Dart’ (centre, port broadside view) under a cloudy night sky with the full moon in clear view. Three more vessels of similar build feature in the mid-ground (right of centre), with three small rowing boats filled with passengers on the far right; the right-most boat is on fire. The background features an indistinct coastline, probably Dunkirk where the event occurred.
The NMM collections include another version of this print (PAI6102).
