Official ship's badge of HMS Turquoise
Ships badge of HMS 'Turquoise' 1918. It is an official design, a shield shape with a gold rope twist border, a naval crown above. 'TURQUOISE' is inscribed in the name tablet. The badge depicts on a black field, a heart-shaped locket, with a turquoise-coloured gem set in gold. The pattern was approved in February 1923. The badge is cast in copper alloy, painted and drilled for attachment. The design was suggested by the commanding officer of the destroyer. HMS 'Turquoise' was an S class destroyer active 1918-1931. The class originally had names beginning with S but later ships had names beginning with T.
