To the Captains, Officers & Crew, of His Majesty's Ships Pomone...Unite...& Scout Brig... Representing the Squadron under...Captn Barrie commencing the Engagement with the Enemy ships & Batteries in Sagone Bay on the 1st May 1811...
A view of the British squadron’s engagement with French ships at Sagone Bay. ‘Pomone’ is shown on the right of the picture. Her commander, Captain Barrie, who led the British squadron, reported that ‘Pomone’ received the most damage of the three British vessels as she was in the most exposed position. This would be consistent with her leading the squadron. The ‘Unité’ is probably the middle vessel and the ‘Scout’ the one on the left. Coloured aquatint. Plate 2, proof with letters.
